Prayer to St Judas Tadeo for difficult and desperate cases Son of Cleopas, who died martyr, and Mary, who was at the foot of the Cross and anointed the body of Christ after death. Brother of Santiago el Menor. nephew of Mary and Joseph; consanguineous relative of Jesus Christ.
He was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. St. Judas, after the Last Supper, asked Christ why he did not manifest himself to all after the Resurrection. “... ‘Lord, how come you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?’ Jesus answered, 'Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them' (John 14:22-23)
Saint Judas is attributed to having written one of the Canonical Epistles. It is not addressed to any specific person or church. He exhorts the Christians to “struggle courageously by the faith that has been given to the saints. For some in the secret of their heart are ... ungodly men who turn the grace of our Lord God on the occasion of a dispute, and deny the only regulator Lord, our Lord Jesus Christ.” He concludes his letter with this beautiful prayer: “Be eternal glory to our Lord Jesus Christ, who can deliver us from sin, without blemish in the soul and with great joy.”

martyrdom and legacy
Despite the widespread persecutions of Christians during their time, St. Judas Tadeo maintained his beliefs and finally paid the price for his faith. It is believed that he was martyred in Persia or Syria at some point in AD 65. In religious art, he is often shown holding an axe or a club that symbolizes the way he was martyred.
After his death, the apostle's body was transported to Rome and placed in a crypt under the Basilica of Saint Peter. Today his bones are kept on the left cruise of the Basilica of Saint Peter, under the main altar of Saint Joseph, in a tomb that keeps the remains of the Apostle Simon the Zelote.
Until today, many devotees visit the site as a sign of respect and admiration. Because of their unbreakable faith, Saint Judas Tadeo is invoked as the patron saint of desperate cases and desperate situations.

Representations in religious art
In religious art, St. Judas is traditionally represented by taking a picture of Jesus in his hand or holding it near his chest. This description is taken from a biblical story in which King Abgar, the ruler of Edessa, a city located in what is now known as the southeast of Turkey, suffered leprosy. Because of his illness, he asked Jesus to heal him and sent an artist to bring him a drawing of Jesus.
Abgar's great faith impressed Jesus so much that he pressed his face on a cloth that he could be taken to the king. He gave St's fabric. I swore so I could give it to Abgar. When the king saw the image of Jesus, he immediately healed of leprosy. Then he turned to Christianity and most people under his government followed him.
The cloth that miraculously cured King Abgar is known today as the Image of Edesa. This sacred relic is associated with the world-renowned holy sheet of Jesus that is currently exhibited in Turn, Italy.
Apart from the image of Edesa, some representations of St.Jews Tadeo also show it with a flame around his head that is a symbol of his presence at Pentecost in which he received the Holy Spirit along with the other apostles. It is also represented by holding an axe or a club, a reminder of its martyrdom and other elements such as a scroll or book symbolizing the Epistle of Judas or the rule of a carpenter.
